Materials

EasyCarve provides a list of materials that you can use to set up your project with and allows you to specify custom materials.

note

The specified materials here are only used to set up your tool database feeds and speeds and have no impact on the visual appearance of the model or the preview.

Using the list of pre-defined materials has the advantage of making use of our recommended feeds and speeds data for the tool geometry that are optimized for that material type.

warning

Where we don't provide this data, we will default to conservative estimates. Please always review your feeds and speeds before starting a job and make sure they comply with the machine tool and tool manufacturer's recommended settings.

Add Material

To keep the list of materials you see tidy, we don't automatically include them all. You can add a material from our pre-defined list by clicking the Add Material button and selecting the one you want to add.

Custom Materials

You're not limited to the materials in the list, you can add custom materials as well.

To add a custom material, click the Add Material button and then click the Add custom material link.

Duplicating Material

You can duplicate a material by clicking the Duplicate button next to the material you want to duplicate. This will also copy all the current feeds and speeds you have set up for that material.

note

Once the material is duplicated, you can edit the name and any other properties you want to change. The cutting data for the new material will be completely independent of the original material.

Deleting Material

Deleting a material will remove it from the list and any feeds and speeds you have set up for that material will be lost.
